October 14, 2020Christmas Countdown – Two Months
October 25, 2020Do you have any space in your home and your schedule for things that matter to you? Making time for the things you care about is at the heart of well-rounded living. If you say that health is important, you need to make time for regular exercise and for preparing healthy meals. If community involvement is important, you’ll need to set aside time for meetings, for gathering with friends and neighbors, or for volunteer work.
So, this week’s blog will give you two tasks:
- Find a place where you can go for self-care. Maybe it’s a room in your house. Maybe it’s a local park. Maybe it’s a friend’s house. Maybe it’s your car parked in a random parking lot. Everyone needs someplace they can go to re-orient themselves when things get to be too much.
- Choose one aspect of your life that’s out of balance and not well-rounded and make a concerted effort for the rest of this year to dedicate time to it. Maybe you’ll want to spend an hour a week calling old friends or writing letters. Maybe you’ll dedicate a weekend to learning a new skill or doing a neighborhood cleanup. Maybe you’ll take 15 minutes before you fall asleep each night to read. Whatever it is, make a commitment and write it down. Put the note in a place you’ll see to remind yourself. (I use the inside of my bedroom closet door.) At the end of the year, hold yourself accountable and see what difference your commitment made!
