September 22, 2010Christmas Countdown – Three Months
September 24, 2010Today is the autumnal equinox — the day on which light and dark are in balance.
I like to think that it's a reminder to us about the need for balance in our own lives. We need to balance:
- work and relaxation.
- planning and spontaneity.
- healthful eating and tasty indulgences.
- care for our mind, body, and spirit.
Much of this blog is dedicated to helping us find that balance so that we can truly enjoy life.
Still, it's inevitable that the balance will be upset from time to time. If our core is strong, when the balance is upset, we'll find it far easier to re-establish ourselves. When I work out, I spend a significant amount of time on my BOSU. The BOSU has a flat side and a rounded rubber side that you inflate. You can stand, sit, and lie on both sides. (You can even do push ups off both sides.) Inevitably, as you move through the exercises, your balance shifts. The BOSU helps you get and stay fit by forcing you to use your core muscles to stay on.
Life is time on the BOSU. Shifting realities just are. Keep a strong core and balance will return.
15 minute check-in: Today's 15 minutes were used to address some oustanding bills (property tax, alumni association) and to do some Christmas tasks.
