While the calendar and the thermometer still say winter, stores are already selling their spring and summer lines.  (Yes, I've seen bathing suits!)

That means that now is your last chance to snatch up bargains on winter things — for yourself or as gifts for next Christmas.  Now is a great time to buy winter sporting goods (don't forget thermal underwear), boots, and winter household items.  I bought my fireplace set in March for less than half its original price. These items are huge space grabbers and stores need to get them out of inventory to make room for the lawn chairs, beach toys, and sun screen.

If there is some winter item you or a loved one really needs or would want for Christmas, now is the time to pick up it and tuck it away for next winter.
