Weekends
January 8, 2010Planning Big
January 12, 2010I'm all for entertaining for no reason in particular. But if you like to have a reason behind your gathering, here are some upcoming reasons to celebrate:
- February 7: Have a Super Bowl Party. This requires at least one large television and food that you can eat informally. Think finger food or cups of chili at a maximum.
- February 14: Celebrate Valentine's Day. You can have a quiet dinner with that special someone. Or invite a group of couples to a theme party. Or have your single friends over. A pampering girls' day party is also a great idea.
- February 16: Shrove Tuesday — Mardi Gras — Carneval! You can do the New Orleans thing with beads and pralines and gumbo and jambalaya. Or you can take your cue from Venice or Brazil. Think masks and elegant costumes. Or feathers and samba music.
- March 7: Have an Oscar Party. Once the noominations are out, I'll be able to suggest theme foods. But think red carpet, winner pools, swag bags, and laughuing at the silly speeches.
What will you celebrate this winter?
