Outside the Box
January 26, 2010Planning the Ordinary
February 1, 2010It seems as if the letter has been replaced by the email. On particularly solemn occasions, perhaps it is replaced with a purchased card. But most people don't write letters anymore. And I think that's a loss.
There's something special about a letter. Someone you care about sat down and composed their thoughts and put pen to paper to share them with you. I have letters from friends that I've saved for years. Somehow, an email just isn't the same. It doesn't carry the same weight. It just isn't as special.
I think, maybe this weekend, I'll try to sit down and write a letter. There are some people who deserve the time and gentle attention a letter offer.
