These last few days, I've been playing host to some friends who live outside the U.S. The first three days of their visit, I played tour guide, showing them some of the high points of my city.

It's enlightening to see your home through a visitor's eyes. Think about where you live:

• What things are must-see or must-do?
• Is there some special event people should try to attend?
• Is there a traditional local food that all visitors should try?
• What is the best way to get around?
• What places are unnecessarily confusing to visitors?
• Where can a visitor go for help if lost?
• Where are good places to sit, rest, and people watch?

You can probably come up with even more questions, but thinking about your town this way will help make you an even better host!
