Think Spring (and Summer)
February 14, 2014The Dark Side of Spring: Part 1
February 19, 2014Like much of the East Coast, Washington, D.C., got quite a lot of snow last week. I measured 13 inches at Elf House. Because of the snow, my office was closed on Thursday and Friday. With the President's Day holiday, that meant a luxurious 5 day weekend!
While I certainly spent a good bit of time watching the Olympics on TV, napping, and reading a novel, I was a bit productive:
- I started the filing project I've been delaying for way too long. That means that, once my brokerage houses send me the relevant documentation, I'm ready to do my taxes. Plus, I discovered that the project is far less challenging than I expected. I'm hoping to do a little biit each week until the project is finished.
- I finished one crochet project and got started on another.
- I did some cooking, keeping a focus on using up food in my pantry/freezer/fridge. Over the course of the weekend, I managed to use up vegetable broth, a squash, a large package of ground beef, a package of dried chilis, a can of crushed tomatoes, a can of diced tomatoes, some peppers and onions, a beer, and some cheese. That's a lot of storage space opened up. Plus, the food was yummy!
Now, I didn't do as well as I might have. I didn't clean the house or clear out any closets or drawers. I didn't get as much exercise as I should have. I didn't do any catch-up with folks.
But I moved forward. And that's enough.
