I Believe
December 25, 2017Looking Forward and Back
December 29, 2017For many people, the week between Christmas and New Year's Day is a time of rest and relaxation, with time off work, visits to family and friends, and general recovery from all of the exertions to get ready for Christmas.
But that doesn't mean there's nothing to do. Now, I'm not suggesting that you go stress yourself out or troll all of the after-Christmas sales, but there are Christmas-related things to do:
- Write your Christmas thank you notes. You should send a written thank you to anyone who gave you a present unless it was a present exchange and you exchanged them in person. No: calls, emails, and texts are not sufficient. Handwritten notes with stamps.
- Go for a walk or drive around the neighborhood to look at the decorations.
- Take advantage of the Christmas events and displays in your community. Most are open through January 1st.
- Make notes for yourself about what went well and what didn't. That cookie recipe that was just ok? Toss it. The yummy dip, file it for next year. (If you don't already have one, this week is a great time to create your Christmas notebook/file.
- Use the cards you've received to update your address list.
- Watch all of those Christmas movies that you DVRed to watch later.
- Remember that Christmas lasts for 12 days! Celebrate!
