Next Steps

February 1, 2017I'm in the end stages of a major project, but I thought I'd pop in quickly to offer a few hints on hosting a Super Bowl party:
1) At least one large television is a necessity, but the more the better. At least one tv must remained tuned to the live feed. If folks want to re-watch plays (or commercials), they need to use another tv.
2) If you have more than one bathroom, prepare them for visitors. If the game is exciting, folks will head to the bathroom during the commercials or halftime. You want to move the line along as quickly as possible.
3) De-clutter the main rooms as much as possible. You need to clear space for plates and glasses and you'll want to protect breakables.
4) As much as possible, choose foods easily eaten while standing. People will be wandering about chatting and watching the game. It just makes things easier. Also, with that in mind, make sure that you use sturdy plates and utensils.
5) Ideally, both food and beverages will be self-serve. That way you can watch the game too. Have a tub of beverages (make sure you include non-alcoholic beverages) easily available. I recommend setting up buffets in one or two places. Crock pots full of warm dips or chili are great. You can refresh other foods (cold and hot) periodically. If you plan a more substantial meal, do it before the game or at halftime.
6) Have plenty of trash cans and recycling bins available. After all, you have to go to work on Monday and you don't want to be up all night cleaning.
7) Before guests leave, make sure folks are ok to drive. If not, taxis are your friend.
Enjoy the game!
