Long Weekend
May 27, 2016Summer Health
June 3, 2016Yes, I'm fully aware of the fact that the meteorologists and calendars tell us that summer doesn't begin until late June. I just don't care.
In my mind, summer begins on Memorial Day and ends on Labor Day. July 4th is the midpoint. I try to organize my summer around those dates. I tend to be quite busy until after a meeting in the first week of August. Typically, August is my downtime for R&R.
This year, I was thinking that I need some summer resolutions — things I promise myself that I will do before summer ends. Keeping a limited number of resolutions at the front of my mind might help me avoid the feeling that I let summer slip away without doing anything I planned to do. In addition, I don't want all of the resolutions to be chores. I need to do fun things too.
So, I decided to limit myself to three very achievable resolutions:
1) Visit a farmers' market. (I have several to choose from near my home and office.)
2) Read at least two books off the to-be-read shelf and get current on magazines. (This may be easier since many of my magazines reduce publication over the summer and I have several long train and plane trips that will be good for reading.)
3) Spend at least 5 afternoons/evenings on my hammock. (I can even combine 2 and 3 to double my efficiency!)
What do you want to do this summer?
