Labor Day is one month from today! That means you have a whole month of summer left! (I apologize to people in those states that believe it is acceptable to begin the school in early August!)
I know that once August begins it feels like summer is over. All the back to school commercials and store displays probably have something to do with that! But do try to enjoy these last weeks before things return to their usual hectic pace:
Where I am in Washington, DC, August is the quiet time. Congress is in recess. Most internships have ended. School doesn’t start until much later in the month. The high tourist numbers start to fall as families end their vacations to get home and prepare for the school year. Even the newspaper is smaller. August 1st was my last deadline for the summer. I’ll be reading and trying to soak up as much sun as possible before autumn begins.
