Looking Back at Lent
April 9, 2018Spring Exercise
April 13, 2018One of the best things about the change of seasons is that we have just begun the season of fresh fruits and vegetables. The spring harvest begins with greens — especially lettuce and spinach. There are fresh spring peas and asparagus, new potatoes and baby carrots. After the heavy root vegetables of winter, fresh, sweet vegetables are practically candy!
And in a few short weeks, nature’s candy — i.e., berries — will be available.
So this spring, make it a point to visit a local farmer’s market or farm stand. You’ll get the freshest produce and support local farmers. And make a place in your menus for the fresh produce of the season. Try to have something fresh at every meal — berries at breakfast, a salad at lunch, extra veggies at dinner. Sometimes, being healthy tastes great!
