Snow Days
January 31, 2011Snowday Productivity
February 2, 2011Assuming you have power, snow days can be lots of fun. For starters, you can sleep in on a weekday! Then the whole day stretches out — unscheduled and open to possibilities.
Yes, there will be shovelling in addition to playing in the snow, but with a little planning, your snow day can be an extra great day:
- Keep ingredients on hand for homamde oatmeal orchocolate chip cookies. (You can even make a batch of peanut butter or chocolate chip cookie dough, shape it in a log, wrap it in wax paper and freeze in a freezer bag. Voila, you're own slice and bake cookies. Just pull it out of the freezer when you head out to play.)
- If you have milk, sugar, and cocoa, you have homemade hot chocolate!
- Consider using the extra time for food prep to make homemade soup or stew. Much less sodium than prepared versions and you can add extra veggies.
- It's not a bad idea to keep a few DVDs to watch or a book or two you've been meaning to read.
- A snow day is a great craft day.
- Two words: Board games.
What do you like to do on snow days?
