An Interesting Perspective
May 18, 2016Summer Lies Ahead
May 23, 2016For the last few weeks, I've been in a pitched battle with the paperwork in my house. I'm trying to sort bins of bills, receipts, correspondence, etc. that I put aside until "I had more time to deal with it." Well, that time is now.
I've sorted through all the paper, recycled a fair amount and shredded enough to house all the classroom hamsters in America. I've moved all my current files to a proper filing cabinet and I've opened up lots of space. I still need to organize my recipe and craft files, deal with the magazine backlog, and sort through some memorabilia to see what I really WANT to keep.
Sorting through (literally) years worth of paperwork has had some interesting side effects:
- It's called to mind people I haven't thought about in years.
- It's reminded how much less things used to cost (my cell phone bill used to be under $40 a month!)
- It's showed me that I used to be a kinder, more generous, and more thoughtful person.
So, I guess I know what I need to do next.
