Here We Go Again
May 13, 2013Summer Flavors
May 17, 2013Spring is really here (though you wouldn't necessarily know it from the weather. We may be near freezing tonight!)
That means it's time to make seasonal transitions in your home.
- Be ready to spend more time outdoors. Clean the outdoor furniture and screens. Make sure your yard maintenance supplies are in one place, in good repair, and that you have what you need. Store winter supplies like snow shovels, rock salt (unless you use it for your ice cream maker!), tire chains, and snow shovels.
- Give your pantry and freezer a good clean to make room for all the yummy fresh produce you will buy and preserve. Unopened canned goods can be donated to a local food pantry. They get less attention in the spring and summer, but the need is still there. You can also put a few items on the counter every few days and plan your menus around using them up. That's what I plan to do.
- Move your winter clothes to storage and take out your summer wardrobe. If the clothes don't fit or you don't wear them, give them away. Make a pile for mending things that need to be mended and attack it a little bit at a time.
- Now that tax season is over, it's a great time to purge and reorganize your files. Make sure you have folders for everything you'll need next tax season. It will make your life MUCH easier next February! Plus, having your files in order will make it easier to deal with bills and such, leaving ou more time to enjoy the summer.
What do you do to prepare for summer?
