February 24, 2021Strategies to Defeat Procrastination
March 17, 2021Procrastination is a major stumbling block to being organized and a significant contributor to stress. Many of us struggle with procrastination. In the next post, I will discuss some strategies to deal with procrastination, but it can be helpful to look at the reasons behind it first.
We procrastinate when we feel like we have so much to do that we can’t even decide where to start. It’s just so overwhelming that we are frozen. Instead of making the difficult choice of what to do first, we do nothing.
Another reason for procrastination is that we dread the tasks we need to do. What’s very odd about this reason is that, when we actually sit down to do these tasks, they aren’t as bad as we expected.
We procrastinate because we are distracted by our streaming queues, our social media, and dozens of other distractions.
Knowing why you procrastinate can help you decide which strategy for combatting it might work for you. We’ll talk about those strategies in the next post.
