Today is the last part of my three-part nostalgia series, blogging about old-fashioned things I miss.

I miss Sunday rest. When I was little, Sundays had a pattern. We woke up and dressed in our Sunday best and headed off to church. When we got home, we'd have a big Sunday dinner as a family. Then we'd spend the day watching tv, playing, visiting family or friends. Just relaxing. With the benefit of age, I realize that an enormous amount of work went into preparing and cleaning up those Sunday dinners, but they were still days for family and rest.

Today, Sunday is a just another day to run errands, get caught up from the week past, or try to prepare for the week ahead. Church, family dinners, rest, family time – all of them have fallen by the wayside. I miss the opportunity to recharge and to enjoy some downtime with people I love.
