Elf Away
October 6, 2014Elf Day
October 11, 2014One of the things I'm happy to be away from during this vacation is the moths that I can't seem to get out of my house.
They first appeared in the summer. but they disappeared after a week or so (with the help of a few traps). But apparently, the arrival of autumn has brought them back. With preparing for my big trip, I haven't had the time or energy to do what is necessary to get rid of the little pests.
Usually, pantry moths arrive in the home in food you purchase — often either pet food or organic grain products.
So, when I get home, I'll be combing through all my cabinets looking for the source of the problem and discarding any packaged goods that seem to be harboring intruders. Hopefully, I won't lose too much food.
And thus we have another reason why you shouldn't try to store too much food and why you should rotate the food you store, using up the oldest food first and keeping things fresh.
But I'll think about that when I'm not on the beach.
