As we finish the first month of fall, I start planning my menus for Thanksgiving dinner (which I'm hosting) and for my Christmas party (7 sweets and 7 savories).

I always find menu planning a challenge, even though both menus are basically set by tradition. I want to give people something familiar, but I don't want to be boring.  I like to change up something every year to keep things interesting. Plus, I need to account for preparation time and oven space.
