Tomorrow is Earth Day. It's also the date selected for the March for Science. Like the March for Women, the main event will be in Washington, DC, with satellite marches throughout the country and even around the world.

The March has several purposes:

• to stress the importance of peer-reviewed research
• to encourage funding of science, even if it doesn't have immediate economic potential
• to support common-sense regulations to protect our fragile environment
• to encourage growth in knowledge and appreciation of the physical world

I plan to participate in the DC March, though this time I won't be hosting a house full of people. Maybe I'll have some fun photos for you next week!
