September 20, 2019Christmas Countdown — Three Months
September 24, 2019When kids are school age, they often say that lunch/recess is their favorite subject. Lunch hour is kind of like that for adults.
But how you use your lunch hour depends on several factors: how long you have, where your office is located, the types of lunch available. If you work in a factory set off by itself where you get a strict 30 minutes and you get your lunch from a food truck, what you can do is different than if you get 60 minutes, work in a downtown office, and can bring a lunch or grab some takeout. In the first case, you basically eat and time’s up. In the second case, you may have time to go to church, run some errands, or work out.
Whatever your circumstances, try to keep these things in mind:
- At least once a week, try to get outside to get some fresh air. (If you work outside, you can skip this one.)
- Once a week, try to get some exercise at lunch. It doesn’t need to be anything major. You can go for a walk outside (that’s a two-fer, see above). Or you can just go up and down the steps. Or you can do some gentle stretching. If your company has an in-house gym, do use it.
- You get a break in your day to take you away from work. So, at least once a week, try to step away from your work and read, pray, nap, be with friends.
Even if you do all of these things, you still have two days in each work week to run errands!
