Luck or Hard Work?
January 5, 20152015 Resolutions
January 9, 2015
Now that 2014 is over, it's time to look back on your new year's resolutions to see what went well and what didn't.
've looked over my resolutions and I did ok. Not great, but ok.
- I finished 11 of the 12 books I had selected before the year began. Overall, I read more than 60 books in 2014.
- With the exception of my vacation time and the weeks around Christmas, I was vegetarian two days a week.
- I continued increasing the amount that goes into savings each from each paycheck and I was able to fully fund my Roth IRA for the year and begin to create a house account.
- I did several things I've always wanted to do — taking the water taxi across the Potomac, visiting the drum circle in Meridian Hill Park, and visiting Christmastown..
- I re-organized my bookshelves.
- I've started the re-organization of my cabinets and kept them tidy.
- I've started paying bills online. (I know, what took me so long?)
- I finished off some crocheting that was taking up space in the craft room.
- I filed a tax amendment that netted me an additional refund.
- I entertained 5 times.
- I finished a half marathon.
- I wrote a will.
- I learned several new recipes.
- I donated more to charity.
Some of my goals remain unfulfilled:
- I didn't get back to my goal weight.
- I never improved the pace of my 5k.
- I didn't finish polishing my tea service.
- I didn't learn some of the new recipes I had selected.
- I still have lots of closets and cabinets to organize.
- I still have a craft backlog.
All in all, not bad. But I do realize that I made very little progress in the last quarter. Once October arrives, time just goes so very fast. So this year, I'll need to make as much progress as possible in the first 9 months of the year. Live and learn,
