August 22, 2014Last month, I posted about my plans to make lists. For the last three weeks, I've been very good about making lists for each day: one for work and one for home. In addition, I've been trying to wake up a bit earlier than normal so I can cross a thing or two off the list before I leave for work.
I review the lists each day and add or subtract things as needed. For example, sometimes, a project requiring immediate attention will arise at work or I'll get called into a meeting. At home, sometimes my plans have to change. I keep my lists flexible enough to accommodate those changes. Also, if I'm feeling particularly energetic, I can get a head start on the next day's list.
So far, I have to say that these changes have made me more productive. I'm doing a great job of keeping up with my regular household chores and my office workload is under better control than it's been in ages. I've even managed to get a good bit of reading done. On the down side, I haven't really attacked some of the big projects I really want to accomplish this month. And I really haven't kept up with my exercise and my training for races. Those are things I really need to keep working to improve.
