Rainy Days and Mondays
April 7, 2008Your To-Do List
April 9, 2008Invented by Eric Schumock and yours truly, the Elf. It’s the official drink of the 2008 Papal Visit — the Papaltini!
For equipment, you will need 1 martini glass per person, a swizzle stick, ice tongs, and a jigger measure.
Mix 2 jiggers of vodka, 2 jiggers of simple syrup, and 1 jigger of Goldschlager. Mix well. (If you look closely, you can see the gold flakes.)
Top with "crossed keys" of lemon twists.
Add a small chunk of dry ice to create white smoke!
Once the dry ice has dissipated, enjoy!
Notes:
Simple syrup in made by adding 1 part sugar to 2 parts boiling water until the sugar has dissolved.
Try to get food grade dry ice. It generally comes in 5 pound increments and it dissipates in 24 hours, so you’ll need to be making a lot to make it worthwhile.
Always handle dry ice with tongs or gloves. NEVER touch it with your bare hands or sip from the drink until the ice has completely dissolved.
If you’d like, you can use limoncello in place of the vodka or add a splash of fresh-squeezed lemon juice.
