Since the beginning of the yer, I've been experimenting with intermittent fasting. There are several variations on the theory, but I'm doing the easiest one. On two non-consecutive days each week, I limit my intake to 500 calories.
It's much easier than I thought it would be.I can eat some yogurt, a salad, and a piece of fish with steamed cauliflower and still be under the limit. The biggest challenge is changing my options up enough so that I don't get bored. I do get hungry before bed, but a cup of herbal tea will usually take care of that.
There is some scientific evidence that intermittent fasting reduces inflammation and improves health more generally. So far, I'm losing about a pound a week. It's not terribly fast, but it is consistent and very sustainable. There may be a few weeks when fasting two days would be very difficult due to travel, but when I'm home, it's very doable.
Has anyone else had any experience of intermittent fasting? What do you think?
