I Resolve to Eat Better: Part 5
January 25, 2008I Resolve to Entertain More Often: Part 2
January 29, 2008Our last new year’s resolution looks at entertaining. I am focusing on inviting people into your home for some sort of an event. Taking a friend out to dinner on her birthday doesn’t count. Most people want to entertain more frequently, but it always seems so difficult and time-consuming.
Fortunately, the next two weeks provide three great opportunities for celebration that will make your job a lot easier:
- Super Bowl Sunday: A quintessentially American fest. Also, a shockingly easy entertainment opportunity. You need food that can be eaten off laps, beverage, a tv (the larger, the better), and at least one bathroom. Anything else is superfluous.
- Mardi Gras: It’s very early this year (February 5th), but it can be a great time to gather friends to celebrate the last day of feasting and festing before the Lenten fast! Some Cajun music and plentiful, decadent food and drink are all that’s necessary.
- Valentine’s Day: If you have a special someone, a quiet dinner for two in a big improvement on the overpriced, overly-romanticized restaurant dinners. If you don’t have a special someone, it’s a great time to invite like-minded friends over for an evening of indulgent foods and movies.
What ever the event, just pick something and invite people over. It’s not as hard as you think. the rest of the week, we’ll look at some reasons for not entertaining and how to get around them.
