I Resolve to Entertain More Often: Part 2
January 29, 2008I Resolve to Entertain More Often: Part 4
January 31, 2008Another common reason I hear for not entertaining is "I don’t cook." Whoever said you have to cook to entertain?
It’s perfectly fine to order in for a party. If you have a favorite restaurant, ask if they cater. Most restaurants are happy to provide multiple servings of dishes on their menu. It’s best if you ask a few days in advance so they can prepare. You can pick up the food and reheat it if necessary, then transfer it into your own serving bowls.
Some parties actually work better with "store-bought" food. An extra-long sub is a great centerpiece for a Superbowl party. Add some beer, chips, pretzels and (homemade or purchased) dips and you have a party! And you didn’t even need to turn on the stove!
The perfect food for an "I Hate Valentine’s Day" party is premium ice cream and something chocolate from the bakery. (No, nuking hot fudge sauce to pour over your ice cream does not count as cooking.)
Stay focused on the important thing — spending time in the company of people you care about. Everything else is peripheral.
