Mornings and Bits of Time
July 2, 2014Update
July 7, 2014Here in the U.S., we are celebrating Independence Day. As an added bonus, this year. it creates a three-day weekend.
But I have to admit, holiday weekends are a bit of a challenge for me. I really want to take the time to rest, to celebrate, and to enjoy, but the long expanse of uncommitted time makes me feel as though I have to accomplish as much as possible from my to-do list. If I find myself on the other side of a three-day weekend with no chores done, I'll feel guilty — as though I've wasted time. On the other hand, if I spend the three days working, I'll feel as though I wasted the opportunity for leisure, celebration, and pleasure — all very important things.
So, this year, I'm trying an experiment. I made a list of small tasks that have been lingering for a while but that should be easy to finish. In truth, I should be able to knock out most of the list in several hours of focused effort. Once everything on the list is crossed out, the rest of the weekend is mine to do with as I will. Hopefully, I'll find the balance that is the best of both worlds.
I'll report back on Monday!
