Staying Focused
April 17, 2009Go-To Clothes
April 21, 2009It's always good to have some go-to plans in your back pocket. These are tried and true things you can turn to in a pinch and know they'll be a hit.
Go to plans can cover a variety of instances. For example, you can have a go-to outfit for a business meeting or a party. You can have a go-to hostess gift that you take to parties or weekends away. You can have a go-to gift for baby or bridal showers or children's birthday parties. You can have a few go-to family dinners and a few go-to party menus.
Now, I'm not suggesting that you treat every gift-giving opportunity or entertaining event as a one-size-fits-all moment. You don't take a nice bottle of wine to a host who doesn't drink or a set of homemade scented soaps to someone with severe allergies. Still, there are times when you need something quick and it's nice to have a standard in the background.
If you get invited to a party last minute, it's nice to have an outfit in the closet you can throw on and head out.
When you get home from work and need a quick meal, you may not have the energy to think. If you have a few go-to menus in the back of your mind, you'll be less tempted to order out. In the same way, if you have a few menus you are comfortable with, you may entertain more.
Once you have a mental list of your go-tos, you need to have the non-perishables ready and at hand and an easy way to pick up the perishables.
What are your go-tos? This week, I'll talk about a few of mine to give you some ideas.
