Long Winter Evenings
February 3, 2011Using Technology Wisely
February 8, 2011If you've gotten out of the habit, it's time to get back to the Friday Tidy! The Friday Tidy restores basic order to your house before the weekend begins. It isn't major cleaning. After a week at work, who wants to deep clean on Friday night? Still, you don't want to wake up Saturday morning to look at a house that seems to have faced a band of marauding Huns.
So, just go through the house, one room at a time, and restore order. Hang up what needs to be hung up. Throw away what belongs in the trash. Put things back where they belong. Put dirty laundry in the hamper. Make sure that bathrooms have soap, clean towels, and toilet paper. Put away clean dishes. Run a disinfecting wipe over counters and sinks. Maybe run a vacuum in the main living areas. Whatever your house needs tonight.
I can Friday Tidy my house in about 30 minutes. If it takes you more than 60 minutes, you're either cleaning too much or you need to look at how you live the rest of the week.
When you finish, you'll be able to look around at peace, realizing that if someone stops by on Saturday morning, you won;t be embarrassed to open the door.
