I'm headed out of town this weekend to attend a family wedding, That got me thinking about family.

Family means different things to different people. Some people come from very close families that do lots of things together. Other people have huge extended families that get together for big events. Other people are estranged from their blood families and have only the family they've created for themselves.

Whatever family you have or have created, it's important to put in the time and energy needed to stay in contact and to support those relationships. It doesn't have to be doing big things. It can be as simple as catching up over takeout pizza and beer or sending birthday greetings. All relationships require attention, but it's often all too easy to stop trying with the people closest to us.
