Activity of the Week 28
September 12, 2012Fall Tasks: Yard
September 14, 2012Autumn is on the horizon. That means that it's time to start preparing your home and yard for the season. Today we'll focus on the house and tomorrow we'll look at the yard.
Here are your house tasks:
• If at all possible, do a deep clean and de-clutter of the house. Since you were likely outside more all summer, you probably tracked in more dirt. And you’ll be tracking in fallen leaves in the weeks to come. A good clean will make things far more comfortable.
• Put away your summer clothes. Discard anything that’s too damaged or worn. Donate away things you don’t like or that don’t fit anymore.
• When the temperature dips, bring out your heavier comforters and blankets.
• Position throws on chairs and couches so you can stay warm and cozy without increasing your heating bill.
• Check your stocks of firewood, matches/lighters, kindling, etc.
• If you use your fireplace, schedule a chimney cleaning.
• Schedule a furnace cleaning and clean the filter and vents.
• Clean any humidifiers you keep in the house.
Handling these things now will make your fall and winter far more comfortable.
