October 13, 2017Mornings and evenings make it very clear that fall is here. So, it's the perfect time to think about fall health.
- Keep using moisturizer with sunscreen. Colder weather does not prevent sunburn.
- Use lip balm every day. Cold, damp autumn winds can leave you with very chapped lips.
- Even though the hours of daylight are growing shorter, it's a great time of year for outdoor workouts like running and biking and hiking and walking. It's cool enough that you won't overheat as easily. Plus, you can look at the changing leaves and enjoy fall breezes.
- Still, take a good look at your exercise plan. As it gets colder, outdoor activities like running and biking will decrease. Most of us won't make up for that loss with skating and skiing, so we need to modify of our exercise program, using machines or focusing on exercises that can be done in limited space indoors (pushups, squats, crunches, etc.). As it grows colder and starts getting darker earlier, you may have to push yourself to get your workout in.
- Limit your consumption of fall treats like rich stews and cobblers and caramel-dipped apples.
- Keep hydrating. It's amazing how much fuller you feel when you drink water. Plus, it's great for your skin as the wind gets chiller and the air indoors
