An Elf-cation
September 6, 2010Fall Chores
September 10, 2010Even though the calendar tells us that the beginning of autun (the autumnal equinox) is still a few weeks away, for most of us, Labor Day puts an end to summer and begins the fall.
So, that means it's time to think about opportunities to entertain in the next few months. Of course, there are the big things like having a Halloween party or hosting the Thanksgiving meal. But there are other opportunities as well. Here are some of my favorites:
- Have a last gasp barbecue with all your favorite summer foods. Enjoy one last meal outside before the weather turns.
- Host a craft party for your friends to work on all the craft ideas you have for Christmas. (I'll post some planning hints for this in the weeks ahead.
- Have a harvest brunch. The flavors of fall lend themselves well to casual buffet brunches. And during a daytime event, you can open the windows and enjoy the wonderful scent of a fall breeze.
- Have a small gathering of close friends around the first fire of the season. Serve homemade soup and good fresj bread and make smores for dessert.
What will you celebtrate? (tm Disney)
