Activity of the Week 27
September 5, 2012Some Shopping Hints
September 7, 2012Just because the days are growing shorter, it doesn't mean you can't keep entertaining — inside or out. Here are some ideas for entertaining this autumn:
• Host a tailgate party for your favorite local team. If you can’t attend a game of your favorite team, serve the same food and beverages to friends at your home while you watch the big game.
• With Christmas coming, it’s a great time for a crafting party. Set up tables (or cover your dining room table to protect it) that folks can use. You might want to set up stations for beading, gluing, sewing, etc., along with comfy chairs with good light for knitting, crocheting, and embroidery. Serve non-smeary foods in one area only to protect crafts from spills.
• I always love a harvest brunch. Think lots of foods that include apple and pumpkin and other squash. Braised meats and rick stews make wonderful main courses.
• Have a Halloween party. That speaks for itself.
• Consider hosting a party to watch the election returns. You’ll want a few televisions turned to various flavors of coverage. Speaking of flavors, I recommend offering some cupcakes with white icing. Allow people to top their cupcakes with blue or red sprinkles, as they wish.
What will you celebrate this fall?
