Last Weekend of Summer
September 4, 2015Routine
September 9, 2015With Labor Day now past us, it's time to turn from summer entertaining opportunities to autumnal events that we can celebrate.
Fall includes celebrations of Rosh Hashanah, the breaking of the Yom Kippur fast, and Sukkot. Plus there is Halloween (or Samhain) and Thanksgiving to celebrate.
Here are some additional opportunities for to gather with friends and loved ones:
- You can still cook out into mid to late October, depending on the weather where you live. Unless you have good outdoor lighting, you'll need to end earlier, but bonus if you have a firepit to take away the chill.
- Oktoberfest! Why not celebrate with beer, sauerbraten, bratwurst, German potato salad, braised cabbage, strudel? (OK, I just made myself hungry!)
- Also, fall is a great time for a harvest brunch or tea (no need to worry about early darkness) or to host a craft night. Getting friends together to work on gifts they want to give at Christmas is fun and productive.
- Plus, with football season beginning, there's always tailgating!
What are you celebrating this fall?
