October 6, 2010Columbus Day Weekend
October 8, 2010My discussion of fall decor will not discuss the "in" colors or textures or the latest must-have accessories. For the most part, I think all of us have enough stuff in our houses. The last thing we need to do is to acquire separate items for various seasons.
Still, there are things to do when fall comes around:
- Add a blanket or two (or a heavier comforter) to your bed. More blankets means you can turn down the thermostat and save money.
- Keep a throw or two or a few sweaters in the room(s) where you spend the most time.
- If you have a fireplace, make sure you have wood, kindling, and newspaper handy. You may also want to have your chimney cleaned.
- Keep a kettle on the stove and some mugs close by for late night cups of cocoa or tea.
- Beside every comfy chair, there should be a basket of books, magazines, crosswords, or needlework. An excellent way to spend a chilly evening.
