Christmas Countdown — 10 Months

March 2, 2017Lent starts tomorrow. I know that a lot of my friends plan to use social media a lot less during Lent, so I wanted to get this post up today.
Because I'm going to suggest that you consider NOT logging off Facebook and Twitter for Lent. Instead of limiting your contact through social media, consider transforming it.
Instead of making snarky comments, share kindness.
Instead of making snap judgments, listen to other people's views.
Instead of sharing random stories, make sure they are true first.
Rather than opting out, be a positive influence. Use your power (yes, you have power), to transform social media for the good.
If you do still decide to log off, replace your time spent online with either in-person contact with those you love or silence. Replacing Facebook with random television or video games or other such pursuits isn't necessarily an improvement.Use this time to be more present to people –even yourself! Silence can be scary. It leaves you alone with your own thoughts!
