Kids and Summer
February 20, 2019Christmas Countdown – 10 Months
February 25, 2019Yes, I know it’s still winter! But you can still begin researching your vacation plans. The earlier you plan and the more flexible your dates are, the lower the prices you can find. Also, you can get tickets for very popular things early, so you are less likely to be shut out.
Here are things to think about:
- How long will you vacation?
- When is the best time to get away?
- Will you be able to get that time off work? (As soon as you have decided on dates, get the leave approved before spending any money.)
- How much do you have budgeted? (If you are carrying debt and don’t have an emergency fund, the answer to that question is $0!)
It’s important to realize that people vacation in different ways. Knowing your vacation style — and those of your traveling companions – can help to avoid arguments and difficulties.
Some people prefer vacations packed with activity and adventure, seeing all the sites and trying new things. Other people love vacations full of unscheduled time to lie on the beach, walk in the mountains, or rest in a hammock. The only planning they want to do is picking a few good restaurants and gathering a stack of good books.
Some folks like someone else to make their plans and organize everything. Others like to be in control of their own schedules. Some folks like to be surrounded by luxury. Others like to keep things simple, perhaps to spend their vacation money on adventures or to travel farther or to stay longer. Some folks want to see the tourist attractions. Others prefer to go off the beaten track.
Talking about your vacation style is a great way to while away a winter evening!
