Christmas is four weeks from today. Now that Thanksgiving is past, our attention turns to Christmas preparations. Everything just shifts into high gear. But this year, Advent doesn't even begin until next Sunday. (Advent is very short this year. The fourth "wee" of Advent is one day long.)

Here are some tasks to keep you on track:

• Try to finish your Christmas cards. That way, you can drop them in the mail early next week.
• If you'd like, you can start your decorating — particularly any outdoor decorations (if weather allows).
• Keep shopping.
• If you are throwing a party during the holiday season, send out your invites and plan your menu.
• If you make gifts, dedicate significant amounts of time to your crafting this week.
