Every year, in the days surrounding my birthday, I visit a friend in New England.  I get to enjoy her company and the beauty of a New England autumn.

We also try to make time for a crazy activity.  This year's activity of choice was ziplining.

We took a trip with the Berkshire East Canopy Tour Company.  Our tour was an introduction to ziplining.  Nothing too extreme.  I had a blast and can't wait to schedule a longer trip.

Ziplining may seem like a strange choice since I'm terribly afraid of heights. But in many ways, these activities are about facing my fears.  It always strikes me as odd that the dread and fear before facing the challenge is always so much greater than once the challenge begins. 

It makes me wonder:  how many awesome experiences do we pass by for lack of a bit of courage?
