August 17, 2012I just got a new book about canning.
I've always wanted to be able to preserve food so that I could eat the harvest's bounty in the depths of winter and control the ingredients. I already bought the pot and tongs and such that I need. Now I just need jars and lids. Then, I can start canning!
I'm reading the very clear instructions in the book and trying to identify the recipes I want to try. Hopefully, I'll find 3 or 4 that seem easy and yummy. Some will make great gifts.
If I get good at this,I'll be able to do some canning each season to catch foods at the peak of their flavor.
