Back to School – Routine
August 3, 2016Automatic Saving
August 8, 2016Every new school year is a chance to start over. That can mean developing new habits that will make the school year more fruitful and more pleasant. You don't build habits overnight and trying to do too many things at once is just overwhelming. So have each member of the family think about what habit(s) he or she would like to develop in the school year. Discuss them and pare the list down to no more than three person.
Here are some examples to get you started:
Carry a healthy lunch to school at least four days a week.
Read for at least thirty minutes a day before getting any screen time. (You can always DVR shows to watch on the weekend.)
Play outside (or do some physical activity) at least thirty minutes a day.
Be in touch with each child's teacher (by email, phone, or in person) at least 3 times during the school year. Listen with an open mind.
Volunteer for a school-related project at least twice.
Attend at least two school programs.
Put important school papers in the appropriate place every day.
Clean the backpack (locker, cubby) out completely every week.
Put out the next day's clothes every night before bed.
You get the idea. What would you add?
