Reviewing Your Resolutions

April 6, 2018I don’t get it. Why are we in such a hurry? We spend so much time anticipating events that we don’t ever get to really celebrate them.
You know what I mean. The weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas are so full of Christmas events that, by the time December 25th rolls around, you’re done with Christmas. Or the fact that Valentine’s decorations show up in stores before New Year’s Eve. And the Easter candy on sale before Ash Wednesday.
But recently I saw something that shocked even me. A local church announced that it was having it’s children’s Easter celebration on March 25th? that was Palm Sunday! How, pray tell, do you celebrate Easter Sunday before Good Friday?
Why do we feel the need to anticipate everything? What wrong with preparing during times of preparation and celebrating on actual dates? Why not live by the seasons instead of hurrying everything up to make it conform to commercial goals?
Let’s take back the calendar!
