Today isn’t just the unofficial start of summer (and the first day to wear white shoes), it’s Memorial Day.
Originally set aside as a day to remember those members of the military who gave their lives in defense of the nation, it’s also an apt day to remember all of those who give their lives to keep others safe and secure.
Our memory is even big enough to remember our loved ones who have passed away. If you live close enough, you might want to take some time before your cookout visit the cemetery, tidy the space around family graves and bring fresh summer flowers.
Because in the slower pace of summer, there should always be time to remember and celebrate love.
